BJP Leader Kapil Mishra Stands by Controversial 'Shoot the Traitors' Slogan Raised During CAA Support Rally in Delhi

New Delhi, December 22: Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra, who is being questioned for raising provocative slogans during a rally in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), said that he stands by the slogan raised during the rally as "it didn't kill people," reported the Indian Express. Mishra on Friday night had reportedly led a rally in support of the CAA, where the slogan "Desh ke gaddaron ko goli maaro saalon ko" (shoot the traitors of the country) reverberated. However, the Delhi state unit has distanced itself from the controversy. Delhi BJP leader Neelkant Bakshi was quoted saying by the Indian Express that if such slogans were raised in the rally, then the BJP has got nothing to do with Mishra's event.
When contacted by the daily, Mishra agreed to have raised the slogan but said that he did not instigate anyone or encourage violence. The BJP had also organised a gathering in support of the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act at Connaught Place which was attended by party leaders including state unit chief Manoj Tiwari.
