However, the Delhi state unit has distanced itself from the controversy. Delhi BJP leader Neelkant Bakshi was quoted saying by the Indian Express that if such slogans were raised in the rally, then the BJP has got nothing to do with Mishra's event.
When contacted by the daily, Mishra agreed to have raised the slogan but said that he did not instigate anyone or encourage violence. The BJP had also organised a gathering in support of the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act at Connaught Place which was attended by party leaders including state unit chief Manoj Tiwari.
