New Delhi, December 30: A day after Janata Dal (United) vice-president Prashant Kishor pitched for a "1:1.4 seat-sharing deal" for the Bihar assembly elections 2020, the BJP showed its reluctance in accepting any deal on seat-sharing without consultations between the parties. Prashant Kishor stoked a fresh row on Sunday by pitching for a "1:1.4 seat-sharing deal" for the Bihar assembly elections 2020. Kishor said that the JD(U) should demand more seats than the BJP for the assembly polls, if the alliance with NDA remains intact. He also added that the alliance should be based on patterns followed by the BJP and JDU in the past. Prashant Kishor Wants JD(U) to Seek '1:1.4 Seat-Sharing Deal' With BJP For Bihar Assembly Elections 2020.
However, BJP leaders have made it clear that the saffron party will not settle for anything less than equal sharing of seats. BJP Ally JD(U) Refuses Support to NPR Days After Nitish Kumar Ruled Out NRC in Bihar.
“There was no formula for 2005 and 2010 assembly polls, what is the use of this right now. It is a premature formula. Both the parties should only look at winnability factor,” a senior BJP leader was quoted saying by English daily Hindustan Times.
The signs of disagreement between JDU and BJP does not augur well for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP's fortunes in state assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra could not work as it lost the states and in Haryana the party could not win majority on its own. Kishor is considered close to JD(U) president Nitish Kumar and has been a vocal critic of the leading attack against the BJP on the issue of CAA-NRC.
