Hyderabad, August 14: A day after President Ram Nath Kovind sought a report on the suicide committed by 27 students following the Intermediate examination results, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit out at KCR-led Telangana government. The saffron party alleged that the students committed suicide due to the government's negligence and corrupt practices. Telangana BJP spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said, "BJP demands a quick and accurate report from the Government of Telangana State to the President of India. TRS Government owes an explanation to the people of the state for the painful suicides of youth in the state." On Tuesday President Kovind sought a report from the Telangana government over the suicides in the state. "The communique was received by BJP Telangana State President K Laxman. The report is sought from the Chief Secretary of Telangana government immediately," the office secretary said in a statement.
The results were announced on April 18 earlier this year. Over three lakh students had reportedly failed in the intermediate exams conducted by the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education in the state. This led to protests by students and parents alleging large-scale discrepancies in the examination process.
