New Delhi, December 1: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday went all guns blazing against Congress president Rahul Gandhi for saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn't understand Hinduism. Union ministers and senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Ravi Shankar Prasad hit back at Rahul Gandhi and said the Congress chief was not a committed Hindu.

"They say he is a janeudhari Brahmin. We didn't know that he has gained so much knowledge that we need to understand Hinduism from him. I hope the day never comes when we will have to understand the meaning of a Hindu from Rahul Gandhi," Swaraj said. The external affairs minister also took on former finance minister P Chidambaram and said the Modi government made India the fastest growing economy. Rahul Gandhi Attacks Govt For Lowering UPA-Era GDP Figures, Calls PM Modi ‘Master of Data Manipulation’.

"I would like to remind Mr Chidambaram that in UPA’s tenure IMF and the World Bank listed Indian economy in the fragile five. It was listed as one the economies that were on decline. Today, these two organizations themselves call India the fastest growing economy," Swaraj said. Earlier today, Chidambaram said the Modi government failed to deliver double-digit growth as promised by the BJP.

Prasad hit out at Rahul Gandhi and said the Congress president turn Hindu just for political gains. "Rahul Gandhi's problem is he is the confused Gandhi, and he keeps on changing his Hindu appearances for political purposes, not by way of commitment. He isn't a Hindu by commitment. He is a Hindu by political consideration. His Hindu faith changes with political expediency," the minister said.

Interacting with a business community in poll-bound Rajasthan, Gandhi on Saturday questioned the Hindu quotient PM Modi. He alleged that PM Modi doesn't understand the foundation of Hinduism.
