BJP Expels Former Himachal Pradesh Minister Anil Sharma After Son Fought Lok Sabha Elections 2019 on Congress Ticket
Anil Sharma's son Aashray Sharma was fielded by the Congress party from Mandi seat after Aashray and his grandfather Sukh Ram joined the Cogress on March 25 in presence of then Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
Shimla, August 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday pushed out Anil Sharma from the party. Sharma, former Himachal Pradesh power minister, is also the son of former Union Minister Sukh Ram. Sharma's father Sukh Ram had recently joined back Congress after breaking away from the BJP on the issue of Lok Sabha ticket for his grandson Aashray Sharma from Mandi constituency.
Anil Sharma's father Sukh Ram had joined the Congress along with grandson Aashray Sharma, when the BJP denied Sukh Ram's request to give ticket to Aashray from the Mandi seat. However, the party took action against Anil Sharma and he was first made to resign from the minister's post. BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh was quoted by news agency ANI that "Who so ever be, if he goes against the party line, he will have to face action. He (Sharma) went against the party line. So action has been taken against him."

The BJP wanted Anil Sharma to fight against his son in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. However, Anil Sharma refused to do so. The BJP then fielded sitting MP Swaroop Sharma. Aashray Sharma lost to sitting MP Ram Swaroop Sharma, and now the BJP expelled his father from the party as BJP leaders in the state said that Anil Sharma kept criticisng the party despite being a BJP MLA.
