New Delhi, April 29: Continuing his string of controversial comments, Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Deb has become the Internet's Favourite Controversy Child. Days after a full-blown controversy took place over his critique of model-actor Diana Hayden's looks, the Tripura Chief Minister has spoken out again. Earlier, Deb had advised the educated youth in his state to "set up paan shops instead of running after political parties for several years to get government jobs and waste the vital time of their life."
Take a look at Biplab Deb Views on Government Jobs, Diana Hayden, Milk Cows & Wi-Fi in Mahabharata Era:
On Government Jobs:
While speaking at a seminar organised by the Tripura Veterinary Council earlier this week, Biplab Deb advised the educated youth in his state to "set up 'paan' shops instead of running after political parties for several years to get government jobs and waste the vital time of their life." Apart from putting up paan shops, ‘milking cows’, is also another option according to the Chief Minister. Deb was quoted in reports saying that if the youths did so, a bank balance of Rs. 5 lakh would have been a reality by now for them.
Har ghar mein gai honi chahiye. Yahan dudh Rs 50 litre hai, toh ek gai paal le, koi graduate hai, naukri ke liye ghoomta rehta hai 10 saal se, agar 10 saal gai paal leta toh apne aap Rs 10 lakh ka bank balance tayar ho jata: Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb (28.04.18) pic.twitter.com/x5Gu6elttv

Deb said, “Any unemployed youth, with a minimum of Rs. 75, 000 borrowed from the bank and little effort, can easily earn at least Rs. 25,000 per month but the hurdle is the "culture that has grown in Tripura during the last 25 years." Deb told the youth of the state to become self-employed by starting various projects in the animal resource sector, with bank loans under the Prime Minister's Mudra scheme.
On Internet existed in the days of Mahabharata:
Deb had claimed that the Internet technology is nothing new to India and it existed even in the Mahabharata and said those who did not believe it was "narrow-minded". Deb said Internet existed even in that era when Sanjaya would share updates about the Kurukshetra battle with Dhritarashtra. Deb said, "India has been using internet since ages. In Mahabharata, Sanjay was blind, but he narrated what was happening on the battlefield to Dhritarashtra anyway. This was due to internet and technology. The satellite also existed during that period”.
"Narrow-minded people find it tough to believe this. They want to belittle their own nation and think highly of other countries. Believe the truth. Don't get confused and confuse others," he told news agency ANI in Agartala a day after his remark raised eyebrows. At a public event, Deb said, "India has been using internet since ages.
On Diana Hayden:
Earlier this week, Deb claimed that the international beauty pageants were a farce and questioned the rationale behind crowning Diana Hayden "Miss World" 21 years ago. The Tripura Chief Minister said only Aishwarya Rai was a quintessential representative of Indian beauty. The Chief Minister, however, was all praise for Aishwarya Rai, who won the Miss World crown in 1994, saying she "represents the Indian women" in the true sense.
Deb said Indian beauty should ideally look like Goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati. Diana Hayden did not deserve to win the Miss World crown. "Indian women did not use cosmetics in the old times. Indians did not use shampoo, they washed their hair with methi water and bathed with mud.
Beauty pageant organisers are international marketing mafia"
Deb said beauty pageant organisers are international marketing mafia, who spotted a huge market in the country. "Today, there is a beauty parlour in every corner of the country," he said. The Tripura Chief Minister also claimed that the international beauty contests were a farce as the results were all predetermined.
The Tripura chief minister is no stranger to making controversial statements. His remarks have been, however, widely disparaged on Twitter. Deb also feels that civil engineers, and not mechanical engineers should pursue the Civil Services Examination as they are well versed in running an administration and society. "After pursuing mechanical engineering one should not go for Civil Services. Instead, civil engineers should join Civil Services as they have the knowledge and experience to help build administration and society," Deb said.
