New Delhi, August 4: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Meenakshi Lekhi on Saturday mocked the Opposition ahead of the candlelight march in the national capital to protest against the Bihar shelter home rapes. When asked about the march, Lekhi cited how Priyanka Gandhi was pushed during the Kathua gangrape and murder march and questioned how many women would be safe in today's march.
"We saw what happened with Priyanka Gandhi during their march against the Kathua gangrape and murder. Now Tejashwi Yadav is also coming. I wonder how many women will stay safe in today's march," said Lekhi.
We know what happens in Rahul Gandhi's protests, even Priyanka Gandhi can't be assured of safety. And now Tejashwi Yadav is too a part of it. No woman will be safe: Meenakshi Lekhi, BJP on Rahul Gandhi joining RJD protest in #Delhi over #Muzaffarpur shelter home case pic.twitter.com/ZFnLRDiBG6

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav along with Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will carry out a candlelight march at Delhi's Jantar Mantar to seek answers from Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Muzaffarpur shelter home case and several other crimes in the state.
Kejriwal has appealed to the people of Delhi to join the march at 5 pm at Jantar Mantar today to voice concerns over the safety of "India's daughters".
On July 29, the police confirmed that as many as 34 girls housed in the Balika Grih shelter home in Bihar's Muzaffarpur have been subjected to repeated mental, physical and sexual exploitation. The case came to light earlier this year when the Bihar Social Welfare Department filed an FIR based on a social audit of the shelter home conducted by TISS.
The CBI on Sunday took over the shelter home rapes case following a recommendation by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has described it as "a heinous crime".
