Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Phase 7 Voting Concludes for Nalanda, Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Arrah And Four Other Parliamentary Constituencies; 49.92% Voter Turnout Recorded
The seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha Polls on May 19 will be held in 59 parliamentary constituencies spread across 7 states and one Union Territory. Reports inform that over 10 crore voters will decide the fate of 918 candidates in this phase of poll.
Patna Sahib, May 18: Polling in last 8 out of 40 constituencies of Bihar concluded at 5 pm on Sunday in the last phase of the seven-phased 2019 Lok Sabha Elections on May 19. The 8 constituencies that were polling today in the seventh phase were Nalanda, Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Arrah, Buxar, Sasaram, Kurakat, and Jahanabad. In the first phase, voting took place in 4 seats while 5 seats went into poll each in the second, third, fourth and fifth phases respectively. In the last two phases, 16 constituencies went into the poll. 49.92 per cent voter turnout was recorded. The main contest is between the alliance of BJP- JDU and Congress-RJD. In the seventh phase, the key constituencies were Nalanda, Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, and Arrah. Eighteen candidates participated for the Patna Sahib constituency which went to the polls on May 19. The key candidates in the Patna Sahib constituency for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are Ravi Shankar Prasad of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shatrughan Sinha of Indian National Congress, Rita Devi of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and Rajesh Kumar of Janata Party among others. The voting was taking place through EVM and VVPAT machines at every polling stations. Voting took place in all the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state from May 12 to May 19. The counting of votes will be held on May 23 and on the same day results will be announced.
In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won 23 while the INC had just managed to win two seats. RJD and JDU won 4 and 2 seats each. Meanwhile, the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in the country are taking place in seven phases between April 11, 2019, and May 19, 2019.
