'Bigg Boss 13 Spreading Vulgarity': BJP MLA Nand Kishor Gurjar Seeks Ban on Salman Khan's Reality Show

Nand Kishor Gujar, a legislator of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has written to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar seeking a ban on Salman Khan's reality show Bigg Boss 13.

Lucknow, October 10: Nand Kishor Gurjar, a legislator of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has written to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar seeking a ban on Salman Khan's reality show Bigg Boss 13. Alleging that Bigg Boss is spreading vulgarity, Nand Kishor Gurjar said that the reality show demeaning the country's culture. This is the 13th season of the Bigg Boss which is hugely popular. Ban Bigg Boss 13, Says Karni Sena, Alleging the ‘Reality Show Is Against Indian Culture’.

In his letter, Gurjar, who represents Loni assembly constituency in Ghaziabad district, alleged that the "show was promoting obscenity and vulgarity and was unfit for family viewing". "The show is against the cultural ethos of the country and highly objectionable intimate scenes were a part of it. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on one hand, is trying to make India regain its lost glory and, on the other, such shows were demeaning the country's culture," he added. Seeking a censor mechanism for content being aired on television, Gurjar said that children and minors are watching television and have fair access to such shows which have adult content. The Brahmin Mahasabha has also sought a ban on the reality show with immediate effect.

Amit Jani, president of the Uttar Pradesh Nav Nirman Sena, has given up food, seeking a ban on the 'Bigg Boss' show. "I will survive on fruits and vegetable until the government takes steps to ban the show which is promoting vulgarity and misleading the youth. Showing young couples sharing bed on national television is not acceptable and I am shocked that the RSS which claims to be our moral police, has not even taken note of this," he said.

Karni Sena has also demanded a ban on the Bigg Boss show. In a letter, Karni Sena leader Satyanarayan Purohit said: "Kashmiri Muslim Man is made to share a bed with a Hindu girl. The show is promoting that the unmarried girls can have a baby and the Hindu culture is being downgraded. I appeal that this show should be banned under the Hindu Act."
