In 2014 election, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Arjun Charan Sethi defeated Congress candidate Sangram Keshari Jena by a margin of 1,79,359 votes. While BJP candidate Sarat Dash came at the third spot. Sethi had continuously won this seat five times from 1998-2004 on the BJD ticket.
