Mumbai, May 23: A high-stakes electoral contest was seen between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was seen in Beed Lok Sabha seat of Maharashtra. Beed Lok Sabah constituency went to polls on April 18 in the second phase of general elections. Pritam Gopinath Munde of the BJP won parliamentary election from Beed.
The BJP has renominated Pritam, daughter of late BJP stalwart Gopinath Munde, while the NCP fielded Beed Zilla Parishad member Bajrang Sonwane as its candidate. The process of filing nomination for Beed Lok Sabha election began on March 19. The last day for nominations was March 26. Scrutiny was done on March 27 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations was March 29. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and Shiv Sena contested in an allaince and bagged 23 and 18 seats respectively. The Congress won only two seats and NCP just four.
