New Delhi, January 21: North Delhi Mayor Preeti Aggarwal on Sunday issued clarification after a video, showing her cautioning officials from saying anything against the blaze at Bawana Factory went viral. “This industrial area is under DSIDC & land allotment has been done by Delhi government. They should at least see what work is being done there. Is making a fake video viral & confusing public is fair? It's condemnable & I expect Arvind Kejriwal Ji to apologise”, Aggarwal said.

The Mayor further added saying, “A video of me is being made viral on social media & has been re tweeted by CM as well. I only made some inquiry about the place from my co-workers & I meant we shouldn't say anything about such unfortunate incident at this time”.

Reports state that Aggarwal has accused Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters of circulating a fake video showing her in a poor light. The deadly fire at Bawana industrial estate on Saturday evening killed 17 people, including 10 women. The fire is reported to have started at the storage unit on the ground floor of a two-storey building, ripped through the structure. Reports state that two others- who managed to escape the deadly incident, have been severely injured.  Roop Prakash (in his 20s) and Sunita (in her 40s) — have been admitted to a hospital.

Preeti Aggarwal on Saturday courted controversy after a video of her cautioning her aides from speaking on the issue surfaced online. In a video posted by ANI, Agarwal is seen telling her aide, "iss factory ki licensing hamare paas hai isliye hum kuch nahi bol sakte (I cannot talk about the incident as the licensing of this factory is under the NDMC)."

In support of Aggarwal, Delhi BJP Chief Manoj Tiwari also hit back, saying the AAP should apologise for spreading lies against his party.  To recall, the owner of a firecracker unit, Manoj Jain in outer Delhi's Bawana industrial area has now been arrested by the Delhi Police.
