Lucknow, May 23: The results of the Baghpat Lok Sabha Constituency will be declared today. The counting of votes began on the Parliamentary seat in Uttar Pradesh at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. Voting took place for the Baghpat seat in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 11. A total voter turnout of 64 per cent was recorded in this phase of polling in UP, as per Election Commission of India. Baghpat constituency is one of the eighty Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Baghpat is a city of NCR and a Municipal board in Baghpat district in western Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Baghpat District. Prior to the establishment of Baghpat district in 1997, Baghpat was a Tehsil in Meerut district. Baghpat town is located on the banks of river Yamuna. The parties have declared their candidates from the seat and the independent candidates have filed affidavit too. The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has declared Jayant Chaudhary as the candidate. In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Satya Pal Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the seat and became an MP for the first time. Ghulam Mohammed of the Samajwadi Party (SP) came at the second place. Ajit Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) was the second runner-up.

Lok Sabha Elections 2019 were held across the 29 states and 7 Union Territories (UT) between April 11 and May 23. While voting took place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19, the General Election results are scheduled to be announced on Thursday, May 23.
