Kolkata, April 6: Five days ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019' first phase, West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer has barred Bharatiya Janata Party parliamentarian Babul Supriyo's electoral song from being played at any political rally. The latest notice directed the BJP to withdraw the song, which was objected by the Trinamool Congress leaders in the state.

As the song was being played by the BJP leaders at several electoral rallies in the state without permission, the new circular from the CEO states 'the song will have to be withdrawn'. Since inception, the Babul Supriyo composed and sung song was in controversy. BJP Asansol MP Babul Supriyo in Fix For Releasing Campaign Video on Social Media, Election Commission to Send Show Cause Notice.

Making the announcement to ban the song from being played at any political rally or public forum, the CEO said, "Election Commission has said BJP MP Babul Supriyo's song against which TMC had objected won't be allowed to play. The song was being used by BJP in various parts of Bengal without permission. The song will have to be withdrawn."

Earlier on March 19, Trinamool Congress leaders had filed a complaint against Asansol MP for degrading its party chairperson Mamata Banerjee in the song – ‘EI Trinamool Aar Nai (No More to This Trinamool)’. Along with this, the party also objected to the song with a violation of Model Code of Conduct and reached out to Election Commission.
