Babita Phogat, Commonwealth Games Champion Wrestler, to Join BJP Today
According to reports, Phogat will join the party at Haryana Bhawan in national capital Delhi. Babita and her sister have contributed to a change in mindset and attitude towards girls and women in their village in Haryana.
New Delhi, August 12: Commonwealth Games champion wrestler Babita Kumari Phogat is all set to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, sources said. According to reports, Phogat will join the party at Haryana Bhawan in national capital Delhi. Babita and her sister have contributed to a change in mindset and attitude towards girls and women in their village in Haryana. Sanjay Seth and Surendra Singh Nagar, Ex-SP MPs Join BJP.
A bronze medallist at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships, Babita had won yellow metals at 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games. Of the two famous Phogat sisters, Babita is the younger one. The elder one is Geeta.
A report by Deccan Chronicle quoted her father Mahabir Phogat lauding the government decision of scrapping Article 370 and the Haryana government led by Manohar Lal for the development in the state.
On June 4, Babita shared a photograph on her Twitter page, in which the would-be-groom can be seen seeking blessing of her father Maharvir Singh Phogat. The 29-year-old grappler captioned the photograph, saying: "@SuhagVivek you know it's official when you get the blessing from my bapu. It's time for Dilwale to take her Dulhaniya.
