New Delhi, June 4: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has endorsed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government ahead of 2019, appealing the nation to keep in mind the "progressive work" undertaken by the Narendra Modi regime while going to polls next year.

Ramdev was reached out to by BJP chief Amit Shah under the 'Maha Sampark Abhiyan' -- a campaign to reach out 1 lakh members of the civil society and seeking their endorsement for the incumbent government at the Centre.

"India is flourishing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The nation is scaling new heights of progress and development," Ramdev said while addressing a joint press conference with Shah.

The spiritual leader claims India's image has improved across the world after Modi took charge. "PM is respected by powerful heads of states around the globe. No one is welcomed in foreign lands the way Modi ji is received," he said.

Back at home, Ramdev added, the wide-scale corruption ceases to exist. "This is a transparent government whose commitment lies with the common people."

Ramdev categorically mentioned the Ujjwala Yojana, crediting it for "changing the lives of women across rural India". Under the scheme, households in the remotest parts of India are being provided free LPG connections.

Connectivity has also been boosted in the past four years, Ramdev claimed, stating, "Our Minister Nitin Gadkari ji is working strenuously to connect all parts of the nation with a grid of top quality national highways."

Shah, who accompanied Ramdev while interacting with the reporters, said the endorsement of the yoga guru is also an achievement for the government. "Through Baba, we are hopeful of reaching out to his crores of supporters," he added. Notably, Ramdev had extended support to the BJP in 2014 as well.
