New Delhi, October 29: Soon after the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing on Ayodhya case till January next year, the political atmosphere in the country has started heating up. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asasuddin Owaisi took a dig on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and various other Hindu organisations over the issue. Owaisi challenged the Narendra Modi government to bring an ordinance to build Ram Temple at the disputed site.

He said, “Why don't they bring it (ordinance on Ram temple)? Let them do it. Every time they are threatening that they will bring an ordinance. Every Tom, Dick & Harry of BJP, RSS, VHP says this. Do it. You are in power. I challenge you to do it. Let us see.” Ayodhya Case Adjourned by Supreme Court Till January 2019, Date of Hearing to be Decided Later

Meanwhile, former finance minister P Chidambaram also accused the central government of polarising voters before the elections. Chidambaram said, “This is a familiar story. Every 5 yrs before elections, BJP will try to polarise views on Ram Mandir. Congress party's position is that the matter is before SC, everyone should wait until SC decides questions before SC. I don't think we should jump the gun.”

However, responding to the apex court’s decision of delaying the hearing, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said that building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya would assure harmony in the country. The organisation also demanded that the government should bring an ordinance to build the temple. Ayodhya Case: Senior Counsel Rajeev Dhawan Sparks Controversy, Says 'Babri Masjid Was Destroyed By Hindu Taliban'

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya expressed disappoint over the top court’s decision. Maurya said, “I don't want to comment since it's the decision of Supreme Court. However, the adjournment of hearing doesn't send a good message.” A bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and comprising Justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph postponed the hearing on the matter. Earlier in September, the Supreme Court, had to refer the case of reconsideration the observations in its 1994 judgment to a five-judge constitution bench.
