Aurangabad, March 23: AIMIM candidate Imtiyaz Jaleel defeated Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Bhaurao Khaire and was elected as Member of Parliament from Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra. The Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat went to polls on April 23 in the third phase of general elections.

Reposing faith in Chandrakant Bhaurao Khaire, the Shiv Sena has renominated him. Khaire faced a tough challenge from AIMIM's Imtiyaz Jaleel and Congress candidate Subhash Zambad. In Aurangabad parliamentary constituency, the process of filing nomination began from March 28. The BJP and Shiv Sena, who contested the 2014 Lok Sabah elections together, won 23 and 18 seats respectively. Congress bagged only two and the NCP just four seats. Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases - on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
