New Delhi, April 26: In a loot carried out by two bike-borne criminals in Delhi, a cash box containing Rs 11 lakh was robbed from an ATM van. The cashier and security guard in the van were shot dead.

The incident was reported from Narela locality on Thursday afternoon. The van was targeted in a secluded area by two attackers who came on a black motorbike, police said based upon the preliminary inquiry.

The cashier and guard were fired upto 18 to 20 times, the police said, adding that the deceased were rushed to the nearby hospital where they were confirmed dead on arrival.

A search operation has also been launched against the unidentified attackers. With the case being reported this afternoon, the police are hopeful of tracing down the culprits before they penetrate deep into the neighbouring states.

The attack comes a couple of days after two men on motorcycle attempted to similarly rob an ATM van in Narela region. The cashier and security guard were, however, successful in pulling down the car shutters before the attackers could loot the cash boxes. Both the personnel suffered bullet injuries and are currently admitted. The attackers are still at large.
