New Delhi, May 23: The Election Commission will declare the Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim Assembly elections results today.  Counting of votes for results of simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha seats and Assembly constituencies in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will begin at 8 am. While Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh were held in a single phase, Odisha went to polls in four phases. LatestLY will bring live updates on the Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim Assembly elections results here. Catch live updates on the Lok Sabha elections results here.

In Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, the electoral contest is between the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) with the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jana Sena also in the fray. Of the 175 seats in the state Assembly, the TDP bagged 102 in the 2014 polls. The YSRCP won 67 seats, while the BJP got four. Navodyam Party (NP) got one seat. One independent candidate also won.

The Odisha Assembly elections saw a tough contest between the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the BJP which is emerging as prime opposition in the state. The Congress party is also trying to make inroads. In 2014, the BJD had secured 117 seats in the 147-member Odisha Assembly. Congress came distant second with 17 seats, while the BJP had bagged 10.

In Arunachal Pradesh, a multi-cornered electoral contest was witnessed between the ruling BJP, Congress, National Peoples Party (NPP) and People's Party of Arunachal (PPA). In 2014, the Congress party came to power winning 44 seats. However, 43 of its MLAs later merged with NPP, leaving the Congress with just one legislator, former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki. Congress lost the government and Pema Khandu became the new chief minister.

In December 2016, a BJP government was installed in Arunachal Pradesh following defecting after 33, out of 43 PPA MLAs led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, joined the saffron party. The BJP now has 48 MLAs in the house of 60, while Congress and NPP have five MLAs each. There are two independent MLAs in the assembly now.

The Sikkim Assembly elections results will determine whether the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) will stay in power or not. Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling led SDF faced a tough fight from Lendhup Dorjee Kazi’s Sikkim National Congress (SNC) and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM). The Congress party, BJP and Bhaichung Bhutia's Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) are also in the fray. In 2014, SDF won 22 seats, while SKM bagged 10 seats in the 32-member House.
