The results of Assembly Elections 2019 in Haryana and Maharashtra will be declared today. Counting of votes for Haryana and Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha polls will begin at 8 am on Thursday and the first trend are expected to be out by 8:30 am.
Haryana was set for a hung Assembly with no party appearing in a position to cross the halfway mark in the 90-member House. According to the latest trends available with the Election Commission, the ruling BJP won 33 seats and was leading in 7 other constituencies in Haryana, still 6 short of the majority figures. Close on the heels was Congress, winning 28 seats and leading in 3. Newcomer Jannayak Janata Dal (JJP) was victorious in 10 constituencies, making it a possible kingmaker.
In Maharashtra, where 288 seats were at stake, the BJP won 74 seats and was leading in 29 while its ally Shiv Sena bagged 47 seats and was ahead in 10 constituencies, taking their combined lead tally to 160. From the Opposition camp, the Congress won 31 seats and was leading in 15 while its alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won 43 seats and was leading in 10 seats.
Mandate in Maharashtra is evidently in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena alliance, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. "If needed, Amit bhai can come here," he added.
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray addresses the media, saying that the party won't budge from the 50-50 arrangement in the BJP-Sena alliance government in the state. He also dodged the question on Maharashtra Chief Minister, saying that it will be decided.
The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is way ahead of the Congress-NCP combine in Maharashtra. In Haryana, however, a hung assembly is likely as no party seems to have touch halfway mark.

Voting for the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly and 90-seat Haryana Vidhan Sabha had taken place on Monday, October 21. While Haryana witnessed a 65.6 percent voter turnout, Maharashtra saw 60.5 percent voting. A total of 1,169 candidates had contested the Haryana elections while Maharashtra saw 3,237 candidates in the battle for the state.
