New Delhi, September 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday released a list of 36 names of candidates for the upcoming Assembly by-elections in 13 states. The central ruling party has announced the names of its candidates weeks ahead of the polls, which is scheduled on October 21. Election Commission to Seek More Powers from Law Ministry to Deregister Political Parties and Bar Candidates From Contesting on Two Seats.

According to the tweet shared by the central ruling party, the maximum number of candidates were declared from Uttar Pradesh (10). Among other states, where the candidates' name have been announced are Odisha (1), Meghalaya (1), Madhya Pradesh (1), Bihar (1), Chhattisgarh (1), Telangana (1) and Rajasthan (1).

Apart from this, BJP announced names for Punjab (2), Kerala (5), Himachal Pradesh (2), Assam (4) and Sikkim (2). However, the party has yet not announced its candidates for the Assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana. In both states, the elections will take place on October 21, and the results would come on October 24.
