In a closely contested bypoll, Congress candidate Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin secured victory in the Manglaur Assembly seat, defeating BJP's Kartar Singh Bhadana by a narrow margin of 422 votes.

In the Himachal Pradesh bypoll, BJP candidate Ashish Sharma secured victory in the Hamirpur assembly seat, defeating his nearest rival from the Congress, Dr Pushpinder Verma, by a margin of 1,571 votes.
TMC candidate Krishna Kalyani won the Raiganj assembly seat in a bypoll in West Bengal. Kalyani won by a margin of 50,077 votes over his nearest BJP rival, Manas Kumar Ghosh. Kalyani received 86,479 votes, while Ghosh bagged 36,402.

Election Commission officials said that AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat won the Jalandhar West assembly seat. Bhagat defeated his nearest rival and BJP nominee, Sheetal Angural, by more than 37,000 votes. Congress candidate Surinder Kaur, who was in the third spot, got 16,757 votes.

Mumbai, July 13: The Assembly by-elections results 2024 in 13 seats across seven states—West Bengal, Punjab, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh—will be declared today, July 13. Polling took place in Rupauli (Bihar), Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, and Maniktala (West Bengal), Vikravandi (Tamil Nadu), Amarwara (Madhya Pradesh), Badrinath and Manglaur (Uttarakhand), Jalandhar West (Punjab), and Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh (Himachal Pradesh).
These by-polls, the first since the Lok Sabha elections, are crucial for both veteran politicians and newcomers, including Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The INDIA bloc, encouraged by its performance in the Lok Sabha elections, aims to build on its gains against the NDA. Voter turnout was significant, with more than 57% of over three lakh voters participating in the Rupauli Assembly seat in Bihar, despite a mob attack on a police party injuring two officials. Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu saw a turnout of 77.73% by 5 pm, according to the Election Commission. In Badrinath, Rajendra Bhandari, a former Congress MLA who joined the BJP, faces Congress candidate Lakhpat Butola. In the Manglaur constituency, Congress senior leader Qazi Nizamuddin is running against BJP's Kartar Singh Bhadana, who is seeking the party's first victory in this Muslim-majority seat.
