Mumbai, November 11: As the polling day nears, the campaigning for the Assembly By-Elections 2024 in West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states ends today, November 11. The assembly by-elections are being held in 33 seats in 11 states on November 13. Votes will be counted on November 23.
All the parties and alliances, including the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the INDIA bloc, are pulling out all the stops to secure victory. Budhni in Madhya Pradesh will go under the poll as Shivraj Singh Chauhan resigned after he was elected in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections and was given minister charge. The bypoll in Bihar's Imamganj was necessitated after Jitan Ram Manjhi resigned after victory in the general elections 2024. The Election Commission has postponed the bypolls in Kerala, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh to November 20 from November 13, affecting 14 Assembly constituencies across the three states. The Election Commission announced that several political parties, including the BJP, Congress, BSP, and RLD, requested a change in the polling date for certain Assembly constituencies scheduled for November 13, 2024. These parties expressed concerns about significant social, cultural, and religious engagements taking place on that day, which could inconvenience many citizens. They highlighted potential logistical challenges and the risk of reduced voter participation as reasons for the request.
