Jaipur, December 17: Veteran Congress leader Ashok Gehlot will take oath as chief minister of Rajasthan for the third time in his political career. Along with Gehlot, Sachin Pilot will be sworn-in as deputy chief minister of Rajasthan. Pilot will take the oath for the first time as deputy chief minister. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 10 AM at Albert Hall in Jaipur. Congress president Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh will attend the swearing-in along with a host of opposition leaders. The Congress invited almost all opposition party leaders and many of them are expected to turn up for the event, which the Congress intends to showcase as a show of strength by opposition parties against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Prominent leaders expected at the swearing-in ceremony include former Prime Minister HD Devegowda, Sharad Yadav, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, DMK working President MK Stalin, party leader Kanimozhi, JMM leader Hemant Soren and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha chief Babulal Marandi. Kamal Nath, Ashok Gehlot's Swearing-in: Opposition Readies For Show of Strength in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh.

The Congress has emerged as the single-largest party in Rajasthan with 99 seats, though they are one seat short of a majority. Its pre-poll alliance partner Rashtriya Lok Dal has won one seat and together, they have garnered 100 seats, which makes for the majority mark. The BJP gained 73 seats in the assembly elections held in Rajasthan on December 7 for 199 seats out of 200.
