Asaduddin Owaisi Hits Out at Narendra Modi Over 'Minorities Being Deceived' Remark, Calls It Hypocrisy
Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at PM Narendra Modi hours after the BJP stalwart acknowledged 'the minorities have been kept in fear' in a party meeting. AIMIM MP even called this a hypocrisy which BJP is practising for the last five years.
Hyderabad, May 26: AIMIM Lok Sabha parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, hours after the BJP stalwart acknowledged 'the minorities have been kept in fear'. Owaisi questioned PM Modi and his team on who deceived them and called this a hypocrisy which BJP is practising for the last five years.
Commenting on the PM Modi's speech to BJP workers on Sunday, Owaisi asked, "If PM agrees minorities live in fear he should know people who killed Akhlaq were sitting in the front bench of electoral public meeting...If PM feels Muslims live in fear, will he stop gangs, who in the name of the cow are killing, beating Muslims, taking our videos & demeaning us?" Slamming PM Modi and BJP for hypocrisy on vote bank politics, the AIMIM MP from Hyderabad said, "If Muslims seriously live in fear can the PM tell us, out of the 300 odd MPs, how many Muslim MPs he has in own party who got elected from Lok Sabha? This is the hypocrisy & contradiction which the PM & his party is practising from last 5 years."
Earlier, PM Modi while addressing the BJP MPs and worker in New Delhi agreed that the BJP needs to win the trust of Muslims. He was of the opinion that the country’s 'minority' has been kept in fear and have been deceived for vote bank politics. Modi had stressed that in his new tenure special attention would be given to relieve Muslims from their fear psychosis by addressing the educational and health needs of the community. It is to be known that in the past five years violence against Muslims has increased, including at least 36 killings by 'cow vigilantes' of cattle farmers and traders accused – usually spuriously – of harming the revered animals. Human Rights Watch South Asia director Meenakshi Ganguly claims, as Guardian reports, 'More than riots, Muslims fear the pinpricks.'
