New Delhi, October 30: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi marked staunch objection to BJP leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's dissent on the Supreme Court's recent order to defer the hearing in Ayodhya land dispute case till January next year.

Reacting to Yogi's "justice delayed is justice denied" remark, Owaisi asked the UP CM to clarify why he does not resonate the same view on cases of anti-minorities pogrom, which are pending before the courts. Ram Mandir Via Ordinance or Law: Will Modi Government Adopt Somnath Route For Ayodhya?

The Hyderabad MP further took a jibe against the priest-cum-politician, asking him why his government had given a clean chit to him in the 2007 Gorakhpur riots case.

While speaking to reporters outside his official residence in Lucknow, Yogi said the apex court should expedite the hearing on Ayodhya dispute, adding that the age-old dispute should finally be put to rest.

The Chief Minister also claimed that the "majority community" - referring to Hindus - have been disappointed with the court adjourning the matter till January 2019.

"Sir @CMOfficeUP please tell the Nation which community do you represent after taking Oath on Constitution Hindus,Muslims,Dalits,Thakurs,or you represent INDIANS? (sic)," Owaisi tweeted.

The deferment of case has evoked sharp reaction from a section of the ruling BJP, along with its ideological associate - the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The saints' community in Ayodhya who had fasted earlier in the month for an early resolution to the dispute, said they would  be meeting CM Yogi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the days to come, urging for alternative solutions to construct a Ram Mandir on the dispute site.
