New Delhi, May 11: A major controversy erupted just a day ahead of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections after Uday Jalhar, son of Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) West Delhi candidate Balbir Singh Jakhar alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took Rs 6 crore from his father to give a Lok Sabha ticket. Uday told New Agency ANI, “My father joined politics about three months ago, he had paid Arvind Kejriwal Rs 6 crore for a ticket, I have credible evidence that he had paid.”

Uday also claimed that his father was given the ticket even when he was not of the Anna Hazare movement. Uday's statement:

Responding to his son’s allegations, Balbir said, “I condemn the allegations. I have never discussed with my son anything about my candidature. I speak to him very rarely.” The AAP candidate further added that he divorced his wife in 2009 and Uday is staying at his maternal parents' home from the time of his birth. Balbir Singh's response to allegations:

Balbir is contesting from West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Mahabal Mishra of the Congress and Pravesh Verma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are also in the fray. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. Meanwhile, BJP’s Sahib Singh Verma had won the Lok Sabha Elections 2014 from this seat with 6,51,395, defeating Jarnail Singh of the AAP.
