The AAP chief had been attacked earlier as well during the roadshows. While campaigning for the 2015 assembly elections, a rickshaw driver slapped Kejriwal which caused him a brief concussion. Following the assault, Kejriwal traced down the man to learn the reason behind his anger. On meeting the Delhi CM, the attacker broke down and apologised.
In 2016, Kejriwal was attacked with ink by a former AAP worker who accused him of "betraying" the party's principles.
The attacks on Kejriwal, claim AAP spokespersons, is due to the "minimal amount" of security cover used by the Delhi CM while reaching out to the general populace.
