New Delhi, May 8: Ever since talks for alliance failed between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress for the Lok Sabha elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been attacking the grand old party and its chief, Rahul Gandhi. On Wednesday, Arvind Kejriwal took on Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi saying she is "wasting her time" campaigning in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

Hours before Priyanka Gandhi's roadshow for Sheila Dikshit who is contesting from North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat, Arvind Kejriwal said: "She (Priyanka Gandhi) is wasting her time, why doesn't she campaign in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh? She's doing rallies in UP against the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party, she's doing rallies in Delhi against AAP. Both brother and sister aren't going to those places where there's a direct fight with the BJP." Arvind Kejriwal Slapped in Moti Nagar: Sheila Dikshit Condemns Attack on Delhi Chief Minister.

The talks for an alliance in Delhi between Congress and AAP failed after the latter demanded to extend the proposed coalition to Haryana. The Congress was agreeable on a formula according to which the party would have fought three of the seven seats and four would have gone to the AAP. However, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party was also keen to have an alliance in Haryana which the Congress rejected.

Last month, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that his party was ready for an alliance with AAP in Delhi "till the last second" if Arvind Kejriwal agrees not to extend the pact to Haryana. "We are ready for a tie-up till the last second. The moment Kejriwal drops the condition of including Haryana, it will happen," Rahul Gandhi had told a newspaper on being asked if there was a possibility of an alliance till the last date of withdrawing nominations.

The last date for filing of nominations in Delhi was April 24, while polling will take place on May 12. The results will be declared on May 23.
