New Delhi, May 11: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday sent a legal notice to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) East Delhi candidate Gautam Gambhir. The notice was sent to Gambhir for his tweet against the Delhi CM. In the tweet, Gambhir had said, “I feel ashamed to have a CM like Arvind Kejriwal. You are filth Mr CM and someone needs your very own jhadu (broom) to clean your dirty mind.” Pamphlet Row: Gautam Gambhir Sends Defamation Notice to Atishi, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia.

The BJP candidate was asked to apologise for his comments. According to the notice, Gambhir should submit a written apology. On Friday, Kejriwal had said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would file a defamation complaint against Gambhir for allegedly distributing pamphlets with derogatory remarks against AAP candidate Atishi. However, on Thursday, the former Indian cricketer sent a defamation notice to Atishi, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Kejriwal. Gautam Gambhir Denies Circulating Offensive Pamphlet Against Atishi, Challenges Arvind Kejriwal And AAP to Prove His Role.

Meanwhile, on May 9, Atishi broke down saying that she never expected Gambhir taking the electoral fight to an unprecedented low by distributing "derogatory notes." "I never thought he would stoop so low," Atishi said as she broke down. Gambhir, however, rejected AAP's charge and said he will "resign" if the allegations are proved.

The East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency is going for polls on in the sixth phase on May 12. Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress is also in the fray. The results will be declared on May 23.
