Chandigarh, March 15: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, also the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, on Thursday tendered an apology to former Punjab revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia. Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that Majithia was involved in drug trade. In the apology letter that Kejriwal issued, he has written that the drug trade allegations leveled by him were unfounded.

In the letter issued to Majithia, Kejriwal has written , “In the recent past, I made certain statements and allegations against you regarding your alleged involvement in drug trade. These statements became a political issue. Now, I’ve learnt that allegations are unfounded. Hence, there should be no politics on such issues. I hereby withdrew all my statements and allegations made against you and apologise for the same."

According to a report by The Indian Express, Delhi CM has furnished a copy of the apology letter to the court. Majithia also confirmed the news on his official twitter handle.

Bikram Majithia shared the news on his official twitter account in an emotional tweet and has thanked Waheguru and his mother.

“CM Arvind Kejriwal has tendered an apology to me in the court, for all the baseless and false allegations he and his party levelled against me in drug issue. My mother suffered the most due to all this and this apology is a vindication of her faith in Waheguru’s power of justice,” wrote Majithia.

It remains to be seen if Arvind Kejriwal will issue an apology to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley too, as the latter has filed a defamation suit against Kejriwal for putting false allegations on him.
