New Delhi, June 18: The Delhi High Court on Monday came down heavily on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his dharna at Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal's office that entered its seventh day today. The court told the Delhi government that they can't just go into someone's house or office and hold a strike. "This can’t be called a strike. You can’t go inside someone’s office or house and hold a strike there," the court said.
The court also asked the lawyer representing the Kejriwal government as to who authorised the protest. "Thing is that you’re sitting on a dharna. Who authorized them to sit on a dharna like this," the court asked.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government lawyer said that the dharna was an "individual decision" and that the IAS officers on Sunday admitted they are not attending meetings called by ministers. The case has now been adjourned till June 22.
The hearing came as BJP MLA Vijender Gupta approached the Delhi High Court seeking an order to CM Arvind Kejriwal to end his strike.
Kejriwal, who continues to remain on a dharna at the L-G office, took to Twitter and informed that Satyendra Jain who was protesting along with other AAP leaders, fell ill on Sunday night and had to be admitted in a hospital.
Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government has accused the Centre of misusing its powers to stop Delhi government from working. Kejriwal with his deputy Manish Sisodia, ministers Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai, is sitting at the office of Lt Governor Anil Baijal for past one week, demanding him to direct IAS officers to end their "strike" and approve doorstep delivery scheme of his government.
