Dirang, March 28: The BJP recorded its first victory on three assembly seats "uncontested" in Arunachal Pradesh. Three Bharatiya Janata Party candidates contesting the upcoming polls to the Arunachal Pradesh legislative assembly were declared winner unopposed by the Chief Election Officer (CEO) of the state. The announcement was made by the Additional CEO Kanki Darang. He said that three BJP candidates- Phurpa Tsering from Dirang assembly constituency, Kento Jini from the Along East Assembly constituency and Taba Tedir from Yachuli constituency were declared winners uncontested.
"While the nomination filed by the second candidates in Alo East and Yachuli constituencies got rejected, the two other candidates who filed nominations in Dirang constituency withdrew their nominations today," said the Additional CEO. 2 Arunachal Ministers, 6 MLAs Quit BJP; Join NPP.

Elections in the country will take place between April 11 and May 19. Polling to the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh Assembly along with two Lok Sabha seats will be held on April 11. The counting of votes will take place on May 23, 2019.
