New Delhi, August 16: Home Minister Amit Shah, health minister Harsh Vardhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited AIIMS on Friday night as BJP leader Arun Jaitley remains critical. Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind visited AIIMS to check upon the ailing BJP leader who is said to be on life-support. The 66-year-old had in 2018 undergone a kidney transplant, which forced him to take a sabbatical leave from the Modi government.
In 2014, he had undergone a bariatric surgery which led to him rapidly losing weight. Jaitley has also been battling diabetes for nearly two decades.
Though Arun Jaitley did not fight the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections citing his ill-health, he remained a vital voice and an advocate for the BJP through his social media posts. Jaitley often defended the party and Prime Minister Modi's decisions and took on Congress party and the Opposition via his Facebook posts.
