New Delhi, August 9: Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) at All India Medical Institute of Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. According to doctors, at present, Arun Jaitley is "haemodynamically stable". The former finance minister was admitted to the AIIMS earlier in the morning, after he complained of breathing problem. Top politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan visited Jaitley at AIIMS. Jaitley, has been unwell for a large part of the last two years. He also underwent a kidney transplant last year and visited the United States this February.

Following the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) thumping victory in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Jaitley urged Narendra Modi not to include him in the new cabinet citing health reasons. He served at the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in the Narendra Modi cabinet from 2014 to 2019. He also served as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha from 2009 to 2014. The former union minister was also a senior advocate of the Supreme Court.
