New Delhi, April 5: Finance Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley has confirmed talking to news agency ANI that he is suffering from kidney problems and other infections and has also said that he would be working from "controlled environment" of home. The Finance Minister, who is also one of the most sought after and reputed lawyers in the country has added that the future course of his treatment will be decided by the doctors treating him. According to news reports, Arun Jaitley has not attended his office since Monday. Jaitley was also one of the three ministers to not take the Rajya Sabha oath of office. NDTV in a reports mentioned that 55 members of the total 58, who have either been newly-elected or re-elected, took the oath. It is now clear that the Finance minister skipped the oath taking ceremony owing to his ill-health.
According to news reports, Arun Jaitley is set to undergo Kidney transplant. National English daily The Hindu, in its report mentioned that minister Jaitley "was brought to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon for “finishing formalities for a donor kidney” ahead of a likely surgery." Arun Jaitley has also been a diabetes patient for over a decade and had undergone a gastric bypass surgery two years back. The minister confirmed about him suffering from kidney problems and infections but did not mention anything about the kidney transplant that some media reports have mentioned about:

His followers on the social media have been tweeting and wishing for his health so as other political leaders. The minister has been clearing reports from his home as he is not attending office and is likely not to till he recovers from his health issues.
