New Delhi, August 5: Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday in a historic declaration announced that Article 370 has been revoked from Jammu and Kashmir amid massive uproar from Opposition in Rajya Sabha. Article 370 gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

NDA Government has ordered re-organisation of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu & Kashmir has thus lost its statehood and will now be declared as a separate Union Territory with a legislative Assembly. Ladakh to be a Union Territory without a legislative assembly. Following the announcement, Mehbooba Mufti called it 'the darkest day in Indian democracy', while Rajya Vardhan Rathore says that it is the best homage to all the soldiers martyred in Kashmir. On Monday, Section 144 was imposed in the valley and former chief ministers of the state including Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were also put under house arrest. The state authorities had imposed restrictions on the people's movements across Srinagar. Internet services have been suspended across the Valley. Schools and colleges will remain closed in various district of Jammu and Kashmir from August 5 till further orders
