Srinagar, August 6: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, who reached Jammu and Kashmir even as the debate was on in the Rajya Sabha on Monday regarding the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, has said that the Government's move to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and make it a Union Territory has found support with the people in the valley. Doval has shared his ground report with the Center, said reports. In the report, Doval has reportedly said that the move by Government to abrogate Article 370, which contains the terms of accession to India, has found support on the ground in Jammu and Kashmir. Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday, speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganisation) Bill, 2019, said that the status of Union Territory is not "permanent" and that the government will consider returning back the status of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir once things return to "normalcy" in the valley. Kashmir Special Status Scrapped, Amit Shah Promises Speedy Development in Next 5 Years.

Amit Shah also argued that the provisions in Article 370 are temporary in nature and hence can be done with President's consent as there's President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir. The Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, and the government is pushing for the passing of the Bill in the Lok Sabha today, on Tuesday.
