Pradeep Kumar Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party was named winner from Araria constituency of Bihar, as the Election Commission declared the final results. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Pradeep Singh from Araria Lok Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has given a ticket to Sarfaraz Alam from here. The last date of filing nominations for the seat is April 4. The scrutiny of nominations papers will take place on April 5. In 2014 elections also, RJD candidate Mohammed Taslimuddin had won from  Arariai Lok Sabha Constituency defeating BJP candidate Pradeep Kumar Singh with a margin of one three lakh votes. After Taslimuddin's death, the bye-elections were held in 2018 in which RJD candidate Alam bagged the seat.

The Election Commission of India on March 10 announced the dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The general elections will take place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19, and the results will be declared on May 23. Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place in this phase for Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Odisha Assembly Elections 2019.
