Mumbai, October 2: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare has postponed his hunger strike after an interaction with Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan. Anna Hazare was earlier scheduled to sit on a hunger strike from today, October 2, in his village Ralegan Siddhi, to demand for appointment of Lokpal and welfare measures for farmers. He had also said that his strike would be against "unfulfilled promises" of the Narendra Modi government.

The social activist had sent a directive to the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh in which he had listed seven major unfulfilled promises by the Centre. Hazare had said that in the past four years he had written several times to Modi but did not receive an acknowledgement.

Hazare had claimed that the recommendations sent by the State Agriculture Prices Commission over Minimum Support Price (MSP) were slashed because of the interference by the Central Agriculture Department. He had also demanded implementation of promised "autonomy" for the Agricultural Prices Commission.
