Bengaluru, June 17: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs CM Ramesh, TG Venkatesh and Murali Mohan met Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru today and handed over TDP President and Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu’s letter seeking cooperation and support for TDP’s fight against the centre for justice to the state of Andhra Pradesh.
In the month of March, Naidu had quit the ruling NDA alliance alleging failure in fulfilling the promises made in the State Reorganisation Act and intensified his attacks on the BJP-led government at the centre. TDP had also moved a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha against the Modi government. The motion was, however, not taken during the Budget session of the Parliament due to disruptions.
CM Naidu had said that his fight is against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government. Taking part in B.R. Ambedkar's Jayanti at Ainavolu village in Guntur district, the chief minister had announced that he would observe hunger strike on April 20, his birthday, against the Centre's non-cooperation over the demand of the special category status for the state.
Chandrababu Naidu had observed his 68th birthday by observing a day-long fast for Andhra Pradesh’s Special Status.
N. Chandrababu Naidu has been trying very hard to project himself as the leading figure in the struggle for special category status to Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Chief Minister has been reminding the Telugu electorate that the promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley regarding the special status category to Andhra Pradesh has not been fulfilled and that it is injustice to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
