Andhra Pradesh: Chandrababu Naidu, His Son Put Under House Arrest Ahead of TDP's 'Chalo Atmakur' Rally, Section 144 Imposed at Several Places

Hyderabad, September 11: The Andhra Pradesh police on Wednesday put Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh under house arrest ahead of the party's 'Chalo Atmakur' Rally. Several other TDP leaders have also been put under house arrest amid the party's call for the rally today. The move aims at preventing the TDP workers from participating in the programme, called by Naidu. According to a tweet by ANI, the TDP leaders have alleged political violence by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). According to a latest update, TDP Chief & former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will sit on a hunger strike from 8 am to 8 pm at his residence on Wednesday. According to details by Police, TDP has no permission for 'chalo atmakur' rally.

On Tuesday, tensions prevailed in Granthasiri village of Guntur after clashes between ruling YSRCP and opposition TDP workers. Reports inform that the workers of the two parties have been clashing with each other since Tuesday morning in the village.

A report by ANI stated that at least five people from both sides have sustained injuries in the clashes, while the condition of two persons -- Kilari Sambaiah (43) and S Venkaiah (45) -- is stated to be serious. The injured were admitted to Sattenapalli Government Hospital.

Amid the crisis, Naidu has called for a rally at Atmakur in Palnadu region against political violence allegedly perpetrated by YSR Congress workers. Reports inform that the party has alleged that the cadres of the YSRCP have killed as many as eight of its party workers, claiming that the violence has risen in Palnadu region since the announcement of the Assembly election results.

In the wake of the current situation in the state, heavy police force has been deployed in the village to prevent any further incident. The workers belonging to both the parties have been placed under house arrest in the village.
