Tirupati, May 27: In a shocking incident, a 65-year-old man was killed by his son for scolding his daughter-in-law over "badly cooked" mutton curry. The incident took place at V Kota Mandal in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district on Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Chella Gurrappa. His son Chella Venkata Ramudu was arrested by the police in connection with the murder.

When the family sat for lunch at their home at K Pathur village, Gurrappa started yelling at his daughter-in-law saying that the mutton curry was unpalatable. In a fit of rage, Gurrappa threw his lunch plate on his daughter-in law's face. Irked at humiliation meted out to his wife, Chella Venkata Ramudu abused his father and started beating him, reported TOI.

Venkata Ramudu in a fit of rage hit his father's head against the wall several times, leading to his death. As soon as the police came to know about the incident, they reached the village and sent Gurrappa's body to the local government hospital for postmortem. According to police, other family members could be involved in Gurrappa's murder. Family members on their part said Gurrappa was an alcoholic.
