Hegde even stooped to a new low by stating that Banerjee was the man who recommended inflation and tax rates to be raised for India via Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Bengaluru, October 14: With the entire Indian community celebrating and feeling proud on Indo-American Abhijit Banerjee being conferred 2019 Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ananthkumar Hegde spewed venom and took a jibe at Banerjee by comparing him 'Pappu'. Hegde even stooped to a new low by stating that Banerjee was the man who recommended inflation and tax rates to be raised for India via Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Taking a jibe at the Gandhi's scion, the former Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship took to Twitter and wrote, "Yes, the man who recommended #inflation & #tax rates to be raised for our country via #Pappu, has been recognized and awarded #NobelPrize2019. Pappu can really feel proud of his #NYAY proponent while the poor nation missed out the benefits!!!!!!!!!!" This is not the first time that Hegde had said such things and tried to malign the image of the country. Joining him in maligning the image of intellects is BJP state president from West Bengal -- Dilip Ghosh. Though on Monday, he congratulated Abhijit Banerjee being conferred 2019 Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences. Ghosh had insulted previous Nobel prize winner Amartya Sen and stated that he is of no use to the country. Earlier, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, which deliberates on who should be awarded the Nobel laureate, said in a statement that Banerjee, French-American Esther Duflo and Mechel Kremer of the United States were involved in ground-breaking research to look into the aspects of poverty alleviation. They were honoured with the 'Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel' for their research on the methods to alleviate global poverty.
