Anant Kumar Hegde, BJP MP & MoS from Karnataka Receives Death Threat
Union Minister of State Anant Kumar Hegde allegedly received a threat call on Sunday. Hegde alledged that an unknown caller threatened about beheading him.
Bangaluru, April 23: Union Minister of State Anant Kumar Hegde received a threat call on Sunday. Hegde alledged that an unknown caller threatened about beheading him. A complaint has been filed at the Sirsi Police Station. According to the News Minute, the unknown caller told the minister, "I will behead you. You think you’re a big leader? We’ll behead you and cut you into pieces.”
After calling Hegde’s office first he called the landline number at 2an on Sunday. The minister’s personal assistance lodged a complaint. Police have registered a complaint under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 504 and 507, reported news agency ANI.
The call was made through Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) on his mobile. The caller called Hegde thrice. First he called at 2:17am on his mobile, then later a call came at 2:20am on the landline, Hegde’s wife picked the call. At 2:25 am again the call came on landline, this time the minister picked the call himself. Hegde also survived an assassination attempt on the night of April 17, however police believe that it was just an accident. Karnataka Chief Minister termed the entire incident as a political gimmick by the union minister to get publicity before the Karnataka elections.
