Compared to the last assembly elections, the 2024 Vidhan Sabha polls will see Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena take on Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), NCP vs NCP after a split in Sharad Pawar's party and archrivals Congress fighting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Malabar Hill assembly constituency will witness a direct fight between Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Bhairulal Chaudhary Jain and BJP nominee and sitting MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha. It must be noted that Lodha has been elected as an MLA to the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha from the Malabar Hill constituency for five consecutive terms since 1995. He first won the Malabar Hill seat after defeating the then-incumbent Balwant Desai of Congress. Will Lodha win Malabar Hill for a record sixth term, or will Bhairulal Chaudhary Jain cause an upset? The Byculla assembly constituency will witness a three-way fight between Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Manoj Jamsutkar, AIMIM's Faiyaz Ahmed Khan and sitting MLA of Eknath Shinde faction Yamini Jadhav. Although seen as a Sena vs Sena fight, the entry of AIMIM candidates has spiced up the assembly election in Byculla. While Yamini Jadhav won the 2019 assembly elections from Byculla as leader of the undivided Shiv Sena, it is to be seen if she can retain her seat. On the other hand, AIMIM's Waris Pathan won Byculla in the 2014 polls.

The state of Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20, with votes for all 288 constituencies being counted on November 23. In the 2019 Vidhan Sabha elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56 seats, and the Congress 44 seats each.
