Amit Shah Slams Congress And Its Allies for 'Misleading People' Against CAA, Says BJP Govt Implemented 'Nehru-Liaquat Pact' After 70 Years
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday accused the Congress and it allies of misleading the people of country against Citizenship Amendment Act and recalled the Nehru-Liaquat pact, which the Narendra Modi government implemented after 70 years.
New Delhi, December 17: With the opposition over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act row gaining momentum in the political and academic arena, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday accused the Congress and it allies of misleading the people of country. Shah reiterated that there is no question of taking away citizenship of any person from any minority community and mentioned that no such provision has been included in the CAA. Apart form this, the Union Minister also recalled the Nehru-Liaquat pact, which the Narendra Modi government implemented after 70 years.
Addressing an electoral gathering in Jharkhand, Shah said, "Entire opposition is misleading the people of country. I reiterate that there is no question of taking away citizenship of any person from any minority community. There is no such provision in the bill." Adding on, he said, "I want to say to Congress party that this was part of Nehru-Liaquat pact but was not implemented for 70 years because you wanted to make vote bank. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Congress party and threw a open challenge to openly declare that they will give Indian citizenship to every Pakistani citizen. He said, while addressing an electoral rally in Barhait, "I challenge Congress and their allies if they have the guts they should openly declare that they will give Indian citizenship to every Pakistani citizen, & that they will bring back Article 370 in Jammu-Kashmir & Ladakh."
It is to be known that on Sunday night violent protests erupted in South Delhi after Delhi Police allegedly clashed Jamia Millia Islamia students who were protesting against CAA. On Tuesday, clashes between demonstrators and police personnel was reported in South Delhi. The Sunday clashes had erupted after a section of miscreants among the Jamia Millia Islamia protesters set four DTC buses on fire. In retaliation, the police barged into the Jamia campus and reportedly assaulted students and staff members.
