Amit Shah Says Nitish Kumar to Lead NDA in Bihar Assembly Elections 2020, Targets Opposition Over CAA

Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah on Thursday said that the saffron party will contest assembly elections in Bihar in alliance with Janata Dal (United). Shah also confirmed that elections in the state will be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, who is the chief minister of the alliance government.

Vaishali, January 16: Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Thursday said that the saffron party will contest assembly elections in Bihar in alliance with Janata Dal (United). Shah also confirmed that elections in the state will be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, who is the chief minister of the alliance government. "I would like to put all the rumours to rest. The next election in Bihar will be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar Ji. Janata Dal (United) had supported the Centre in the passing of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) 2019 in both the houses of Parliament- Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha- last month.

Meanwhile, JD(U) vice-president and poll strategist Prashant Kishor had said that the amended Citizenship Act and National Register of Citizens (NRC) will not be implemented in Bihar. However, Nitish Kumar's stand on controversial law remains unclear.

Amit Shah also attacked opposition parties for misleading the minorities about CAA. "I've come here to tell the Muslim brothers to read the Citizenship Amendment Act. I've also come to tell Rahul baba and Lalu Prasad Yadav to not mislead the people. Mamata didi and Kejriwal Ji, you too don't mislead people," he said.
